Carole Maher

After a successful career in advertising where Carole was the CEO of an advertising company in Hong Kong, Carole decided to follow her more creative side and took herself off to the UK to study millinery at the London College of Fashion.

Whilst in England she attended classes with Rose Corey, Royal Warranted Milliner.  On returning to Australia Carole graduated from the Sydney Institute of Fashion Technology – Millinery Cert IV, a three and a half year course, which gives her the added title of “Couture” as well as Milliner.

Carole is passionate about both traditional and innovative millinery design and enjoys working with clients to develop the best look for them. Carole creates two “one-off hats” collections a year and is available by appointment. She also creates bespoke headwear for TV, film, and advertising as well as ceremonial headwear.

She has also been instrumental in researching, developing and introducing new and thermo-formable materials and plastics into the Millinery, Fashion and Cosplay Industry worldwide since 2007.  She has developed materials, skills, techniques and procedures that have revolutionised the way millinery and fashion are created and produced.

In addition to working closely with her clientele, Carole delivers workshops and masterclasses for other milliners and tutors at International Millinery conventions, workshops in UK, Australia, France, Spain, The Netherlands, Ireland, New York, Canada, and at her own atelier in Sydney.

Carole is greatly honoured to be a regular International Visiting Lecturer at the Royal College of Art, London and regularly teaches at London Hat Week and Hat Week Australia.

Carole is a co-founder of Hat Week Australia along with Kim McMillan of House of Adorn. She has also established the Australian Milliners Guild.
